Back to Work

Sunday, November 21, 2010
Tomorrow will be the first day that Eric and I are both going to work. I have been back to work for 2 weeks. Eric took two weeks off to spend time with Elena and to ease my transition back to work. It has been going okay. I really miss Elena, but I my days go pretty fast.

On Friday, Nov. 12, we had Elena's four month check-up. She's finally starting to gain weight a little faster. I was hoping that she would weight at least 10 lbs 2 oz and she ended up weighing in at 11 lbs 6 oz. She is also now measuring 24 inches long. The doctor said that she seems like a happy baby and seems to be developing at a normal rate. The next big milestone will be sitting by herself. She has been smiling and laughing and has started to roll over. So far, we have only seen the result of her rolls. She had to have more shots, but this time I handled it a little better because I was expecting the look of horror on her face. The shots seemed to affect her sleeping. We had a rough few nights but after about a week she seemed back to normal. The doctor has told us that we can start giving Laney mushed up food at anytime now. I think we will wait a few more weeks.

It's weird to think that a year ago, we were planning how we would tell our families that we were pregnant. Today we took Elena to Appleton to the VanDyke family Thanksgiving (Eric's mom's side of the family). We were reminiscing how last year, I could hardly stay awake or eat much because I was so tired and starting not to feel good since I was in my first trimester of pregnancy. How far we have come :)

Now will be the busy time of the year as we get ready for the holidays. We're going to try hard to relax and enjoy our first Christmas season with Elena.
