We immediately told a few close friends who we saw regularly. Eric and I are not secret keepers. We were far too excited to keep this secret. At first, we thought we'd wait until Christmas to tell our parents and siblings, but we knew that would be too difficult and we wanted to tell them before they began expecting it. We decided Thanksgiving would be a nice time.
The plan for Thanksgiving day was to run the Berbee Derbee (My Mom was doing the 5K and my dad, Eric, and I were doing the 10K) and have dinner at my parents with my brother's family. We planned to go to my parents early so that we could tell my parents before my brother's family arrived. We had a great time at the race, but we were anxious to share our news. We went home and got ready to head to my parent's place.
When we got there, we kept waiting for a moment when both of my parents were in the same room. Finally, after what seemed like forever, they were both in the kitchen. I said, "Can we just take a break." I stood up and said, "There's something we've been wanting to tell you for a long time." What I meant was that we had been looking forward to the day when we could tell our parents that we were going to have a baby. Before I could say anything else, I began crying. Unfortunately, when I cry, I appear very upset. The look on my parents face told me that they were very concerned, so I quickly blurted out, "We're pregnant!" and continued to cry. Their expressions immediately changed and they gave both of us a big hug. They told us that they were so happy and relieved that nothing was wrong. They thought I was going to say that I was dying. Next time, I will not be the one to make the big announcement.
When my brother's family arrived, we thought it would be cute to have Lidia break the news to her family. Eric told Lidia and said to tell her parents, but she was being too shy. Instead, Eric told them and they were surprised and excited for us. I think our niece and nephews were a little confused because I wasn't showing at all.

Hooray, I'm the first comment! (Though I hate that I have to log into an account in order to comment (instead of just typing my info).
Anyway, we are super excited, but we were just taken off guard at the moment. We figured it would be coming soon, but he just said it so fast and out of the blue that it took a moment for it to sink in! Can't wait to meet the little bugger :)
