Baby Class

A week ago, we started taking a class from Meriter called "Bringing Home the Baby". We are supposed to learn what to expect before, during, and after labor. Our first class was kind of an introduction to the program, but the second class was much more exciting.

We went to our second baby class tonight. Our class met with an anesthesiologist and he explained all the different types of pain relief and pros and cons of each. It was very interesting, but the needles are definitely intimidating. We watched another couple of birthing videos. This time we were supposed to be taking notice of all the different pain coping techniques. Finally, we got to see the birthing center. The rooms are very nice and spacious. Meriter is changing the rooming policy, however, and we will be staying overnight in a regular room after Sarah delivers. I think Sarah was pretty bummed to hear about this, but it's totally going to be the last thing on her mind after she meets her daughter for the first time.
