So it's been a while, but Elena is hitting some pretty big milestones. If I don't write it down now, I'll forget. A week ago, June13, Elena decided to start crawling. It was the first week of my summer vacation. Yaya (Grandma Bodette) had watched Elena in the morning while I did some work at school. When I picked up Elena, I told Yaya that Elena was really close to crawling. She was quite interested in some electrical cords so I through my cell phone over by them to make it even more tempting. Elena first tried crawling by jumping and pulling her legs forward. We called it the "moon-crawl." After a few minutes, she seemed to figure out how to be more efficient. She seems to be getting better and better.
Today, June 20, Papa and Yaya (Grandma and Grandpa Bodette) had stopped over. Papa was playing with Elena in the living room. She crawled over to him and used him to pull her self up. When Eric got home, she did again for him.
No teeth yet, but I was a late teether, so I'm not feeling that impatient. I admit that I was quite glad to see that she was finally crawling. We're having to get better about babyproofing but she's not too difficult.
Eric's trying to teach her to give a high-five. I'm working on waving and "Mama." Other than that, we're having a great time with Elena. We took her to her first concert the other night. We went to Jazz in the Park at Wingra Park. There were a couple of Latin Bands. Elena danced a little Salsa and Merengue with me. She already gone swimming a couple of time this summer. She loves the water!
Pretty soon, it will be time for her first birthday!
